Caroline grew up in Scotland, studying art at university in both Edinburgh and Derby. She lived and worked for several years in Australia, where she ran her own gallery and craft outlet. She returned to live in Edinburgh, Scotland some years ago, and continues to sell her work both in the UK and internationally.

Caroline has a broad portfolio of work, with a range of styles. She has a particularly wide body of illustrative work, which is frequently executed in chalk pastel.  She enjoys injecting a comical element into many of her drawings and has a strong sense of playfulness. Much of her work is full of humour and features a range of quirky characters, both human and animal. Her whimsical style of work has led her to illustrate a number of children’s stories and projects.  Caroline finds inspiration from both the world around her and from her inner world of imagination.

She is a great lover of shape, colour and texture and, within her abstract work, likes to experiment with form and composition, as well as collage, often encompassing printed matter derived from her own photography.. Worn, corroded and flaking surfaces often feature strongly.

Moody landscapes and seascapes are also predominant within Caroline's work, with a particular focus on dramatic skies.

Caroline is a great lover of animals, dogs in particular, and has enjoyed portraying many a much loved pet. Commissions are very welcome.
